Give It Up! -- Round Robin Photo Challenge.

As you can see from the title, this Challenge is about things we have given up or want to give up.
Now, I have given up on very few things, I gave up smoking nearly 28 years ago and never again touched a cigarette and since I lost that habit I don't have any cigarettes to photograph , so I will jump to the next thing I gave up, candies and chocolates. I still buy some mainly to have something to offer to friends and neighbours whenever they drop by.
The next thing I have given up is Nail Polish, yes, I don't paint my nails anymore, I just prefer a good manicure these days and that's it. I borrowed my daughter's bottles for the picture.
Here are my entries.
Please remember to visit The Round Robin Photo Challenge Blog to see the list of participants and to visit their blogs to see what they have "given up". Thank you for visiting!

The Round Robin Photo Challenge --- The White Stuff

New challenge from The Round Robin Photo Challenge Blog.
The subject for this challenge is " The White stuff ".

I thought this was going to be easy but it turned out to be a diffucult one, white stuff is not always easy to capture in a photograph and after trying with several white items I finally chose to contribute with these pictures.

White lace

This is a picture I had in my archives, it was taken in Malta in October 2011.
A spectacle of white surf as the waves break on the rocks.

In this picture there are 3 shades of white, the milk, the cup and the tablecloth.
Cup of milk photographed from above.

Round Robin Photo Challenge --- Leaves

It’s time for another Round Robin Photo Challenge! The current subject is “Leaves.” After checking out my photos, please click on the above link to see contributions from other participants.

Normally when we say leaf we think of the green leaves on the trees but books have leaves too, every page is a leaf.

 The first signs of Fall.

This leaf was on a Christmas Card I received many years ago, it was a decoupaged card and I saved it as it was a very unusual one.
I think the plant the leaf belongs to is called Pipal and is found in India.

Round Robin Photo Challenge: The Right Angle

Robins are out with a new Photo Challenge. The subject for this one is : Right Angle.
We must photograph anything that has one or more right angles in its design: squares, rectangles, right isosceles triangles, etc. The first three pictures on this post are all part of my archives, old pictures taken during my travels around Italy. The last two are new pictures taken at home.

 Parma Cathedral  - Italy.
The  doors of the west Portal are elaborately decorated with perfect square bas-reliefs

A (right isosceles triangle ) Tympanum at Cinque Terre - Italy
The Cinque Terre is a strip of land, less than 20 km in lenght, it comprises five small fishing villages between sea and mountains in the Northwestern region of Liguria. These five small fishing villages, set like jewels into the Ligurian Coast (Costa Ligure of Levante) give the name to this area (the translation of "Cinque Terre" is "Five Lands").

A rectangular air or light shaft In Mantua - Italy.

To end my choice of right angles... these  wooden construction blocks
were stored away among my son's old toys and I chose to photograph these with right angles.

Forgive my childish behaviour but I couldn't resist the temptation of playing around with them.

Now that you've seen my choice of right angle challenge pictures, please take a look

Round Robin Photo Challenge ---- Inside Out, Outside In

Photo Challenges are becoming a very important part of my Photo Blog.
This new challenge is all about things that should be inside but we spot outside or vice versa.
Here are my 2 entries, in this case both are outside, in.

This shell, which should be on a beach, is now on a shelf in my living room .
I found it on one of our visits to Malta, actually on the sister island, Gozo.

Can you see the outside reflected inside this window pain?
This window overlooks our front parking area on the main road.

In both pictures, do you get the idea... outside, in ?
I would have loved to photograph something that related to inside, out ...
but I wasn't lucky in my search for an item that is usually inside our homes, lying outside .

Please remember to visit the other blogs taking part in this challenge.
Thank you!

Round Robin Photo Challenge ---- On the Wall!

"On the wall" is this week's  topic chosen for The Round Robin Photo Challenge.
I found some difficulty with this challenge  since I  have  very few pictures or paintings hanging on the walls in my house so I went through my archives and soon found some interesting pictures to share.

The first picture was taken  3 years ago during a tour of the ruins of Pompeii.
One of the morbidly fascinating results of the 79 A.D. eruption of the Vesuvius is the large number of holes found in the volcanic deposits around Pompeii that represented corpses of people and animals that were buried by the hot ash. The ash lithified before the corpses decayed so that a good mold of the deceased remained.
Early in the excavation it was discovered that filling these molds with plaster produced remarkable casts of the victims of the eruption but not only of the victims, as shown in my picture.

In this particular picture you can see a plaster cast of  what was left of a wooden door still hanging.
It is now supported by an iron rod .

The next two pictures are not as interesting as the one above but the subject in them is precious to me as it is
my own handcraft, a Santa Claus made with fabric yoyos and which
decorates my hallway in the Christmas Season.

The next picture was taken during a day tour of San Remo (Italy).
Clothes hanging on a washing line, on the walls, is a very common sight in some of Italy's
villages especially in the populated areas of some cities.

This next picture was taken this Spring close to where I live.
The garden wall of this house was loaded with these beautiful Wisteria flowers.

Last picture taken during a visit to Mantua, an unusual colourful artistic display on the wall of a house in Mantua.

I think one or two of these pictures are certainly more interesting then the
few paintings and shelves I have hanging on my walls.

Now before leaving my blog please hop over to the Round Robin Photo Challenge Blog
to view the list of the other participant's blogs and take a look at their entries.
Thank you!

Round Robin Photo Challenge ---- KEYS

It is Challenge Time once more and this time it's Round Robin's turn.
The subject for this challenge is "Keys".

My first picture is a normal group of keys, these are quite old as you can see from the leather key chain.

For the second picture I chose this shot of the keyboard of my son's electronic piano.
My third picture is a collage of snapshots of the key that opens a very old chest trunk.

I chose my daughter's  hobby for the last pictures, these are the tuning keys of her guitar, back and front views.

Thank you for looking!
